Singapore Institute of Technology
THE Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) will double its intake of students - from 500 to 1,000 - this year.

Students can also look forward to six new degree programmes, bringing the total number of bachelor's degree programmes offered by SIT to 16.

These announcements were made by Education Minister Ng Eng Hen on Sunday during a dialogue session at Bukit Timah Community Club.

Three of the new programmes are in conjunction with two new overseas partners.

These are the University of Manchester in England, for a nursing degree; and the University of Glasgow, in Scotland, for a degree in mechanical design engineering and another in mechatronics.

SIT will also team up with an existing overseas partner, the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, to offer three degree programmes: in food and human nutrition; mechanical design and manufacturing engineering; and chemical engineering.
